Modem Router Reboot

Steps for Properly Rebooting of Internet Modem and/or Router

Steps for resetting/rebooting the Internet modem/router. 

Workstation computers:

Shut down each workstation computer by going to the Apple menu and selecting Shut Down

Server computer:

Please note: If you are not currently subscribed to Online Services, you will not need to shut down Online Services. 

In STX, go to Setup: General: Online and click the button Shutdown Online Services, which is found in the lower right-hand corner. 

After quitting STX, shut down your computer by going to the Apple menu and selecting Shut Down

Internet Modem/Router:

• Unplug the power cord from the router.

• Unplug the power cord from the Internet modem.

• Wait two minutes. 

• Plug the power cord back into the Internet modem and wait for it to reset itself. Each of the 'normal' lights will be lit up once it has reset.

• Plug the power cord back into the router and wait for it to reset itself. Each of the 'normal' lights will be lit up once it has reset.

After the Modem/Router has been reset/rebooted, it is safe to turn on the server computer. 

Once the server has restarted, you can go ahead and turn on the workstation computers.

It is not necessary to start the Online Services after the server has restarted. Your Online Services will automatically restart themselves.
