Setup Ticket Preferences

Ticket Preferences – Features 3 tabs across the top where you will find your customization options.

The POS tab contains both Sales Tax and Merchant Account information.

Sales Tax – Enter Sales Tax values applicable to the business for Service and Retail tax.

Merchant Accounts – Prior to processing payments electronically, your Merchant information will need to be entered into this area.

Select the appropriate Payment Gateway. Enter the Merchant Account ID and Key information for In-Store and/or Online credit card processing.

Check the Test checkbox to send credit card transactions to a test account, rather than to the business account. When you’re ready to have transactions posted to the business account, be sure to remove the check on the Test checkbox. If the Test checkbox is checked, no deposits will be made for credit card transactions.

The POS Devices tab contains information for Cash Drawers, Receipt Memo, and the Device Configuration options.

Cash Drawers: Each computer/mobile device running Beacon using an Internet browser or mobile app that is used for entering tickets is considered a ‘register’ and should have an associated Cash Drawer. Add cash drawers by clicking the green (+) button, assign a unique Drawer # and Drawer Name. A drawer name example might be Front Desk Right. To remove a drawer no longer in use, uncheck the Active checkbox.

Device Configuration: Allows assigning credit card readers and cash drawers to each individual computer. NOTE: If you have multiple computers, you will need to configure the items on each computer separately. See page 37 for Receipt Printer information.

Select the appropriate Credit Card Device for processing credit cards on the computer.

Select the appropriate Cash Drawer for the computer/mobile device.

Select the appropriate Cash Drawer > Connection Type for computer. Selecting the None option will alert the system that the ticket payments should be tracked through the drawer, but one is not physically connected.

The Favorites tab allows creating a tab of items that are most commonly added to a ticket at Check Out. The Ticket Edit page will mimic the Favorites you have selected. 

Add Favorites for Services, Products and Promotions that will display on the Ticket Edit page. A color picker accompanies each Promotion setup item so it will appear in the selected color as a Favorite button on the Ticket Edit page.

To add a favorite item, click any of the gray + squares.

Type - Select from Service, Product or Promotion.

Category - Selections will change according to what was selected in the Type drop-down menu.

Item - Selections will change according to what was selected in the Type and Category drop-down menus. 

Type: Service - When selecting the type of Service, the Category drop-down menu will display a list of the Service Groups. 

After selecting a Service Group, the Item drop-down menu will display a list of Services associated with the selected group.

Type: Product - When selecting the type of Product, the Category drop-down menu will display a list of the Product Lines.

After selecting a Product Line, the Item drop-down menu will display a list of Products associated with the selected line.

You may also use the SKU# field to scan or search for a specific product.

Type: Promotion - When selecting the type of Promotion, the Category drop-down menu will display a list of the Promotions.

After selecting a Promotion, use the Color field to select a custom color for the button as it would appear on the Ticket Edit page.

Click the Add to Favorites button when you are finished with your selections.

The Ticket Edit page will mimic the Favorites you have selected. 

To change a favorite, click the desired box and make new selections from the drop-down menus and click the Update Favorites button.

To remove a favorite, click the desired box and click the Update Favorites button, making sure all drop-down menus are set to the None option. 

Click the Save button to save your Favorites.
