STX Beacon: SendGrid New Editor

Marketing > Marketing Email is where you use SendGrid to create your email marketing templates and campaigns. SendGrid has updated the formatting of the templates and campaigns into a New Editor format. You must update your existing templates and campaigns to the New Editor. 

  • If using a browser, the Marketing Email option will open SendGrid in a new window/tab.

  • If using the Beacon Mac App, you MUST open a new window/tab in the Chrome browser on your Mac computer.

  • Log into SendGrid (sendgrid.com), username and password are case sensitive:

      • username is usually the owner’s first initial and full last name, all lower case

      • password is always Success4u and should never be changed

If you experience difficulty logging in, please contact the STX Support department.

Once logged into SendGrid, convert your existing templates and campaign drafts to the New Editor.

  • Templates - Templates are the foundation of each marketing campaign. The template contains items which are always included in each campaign, such as social media, online booking link, etc. 

  • Campaigns - Campaigns are the actual emails being sent to the client, and is built from an existing template. 

Convert Existing Template

Using the left side navigation, click Marketing and go to Templates. Click the Custom link at the top of the page to display all of the existing custom templates.

Look for templates that say Old Editor just underneath the name. 

Hover the mouse over the template, and click the Edit button. 

The template will open in edit mode with a green header stating YOU ARE USING THE OLD EDITOR. 

The option to Switch to the new editor is on the right side of the green header. 

Click the Switch to the new editor hyperlink to convert the template into the New Editor format. The following sheet will appear with the Select an editor option.

Select the Design Editor : Recommended option.

Click the Continue button. 

The Template Name will change by adding an underscore ( _ ) and a string of numbers at the end of the original name. 

Remove the underscore and string of numbers, then add the word NEW to the front of the name as in the following example.

Click the Save Template button in the middle of the black header at the top of the page.

Click the ‘back’ arrow in the left corner of the black header to return to the list of templates.

Click the Custom link at the top of the page to display all of the existing custom templates.

The NEW template will appear along with the one from the Old Editor

While the image of the new template is not displayed, all of the information is still there. 

To view the new template, hover the mouse over the template, and click either the Preview or the Edit button. 

Each time you create a new Campaign for a marketing email, you will choose the NEW template.

Converting Existing Campaign

Using the left side navigation, click Marketing and go to Campaigns. Click the Draft link at the top of the page to display all of the existing campaigns being used when sending a marketing email.

Look for campaigns that say Old Editor just underneath the yellow Draft button. 

Click the campaign name.

The campaign will open in edit mode with a green header stating YOU ARE USING THE OLD EDITOR. 

The option to Switch to the new editor is on the right side of the green header. 

Click the Switch to the new editor hyperlink to convert the campaign into the New Editor format. The following sheet will appear with the Select an editor option.

Select the Design Editor : Recommended option.

Click the Continue button. 

The Campaign Name will change by adding the word Copy, an underscore ( _ ), the original name with another underscore, and a string of numbers at the end of the original name. 

Remove the underscores and string of numbers, then add the word NEW to the front of the name as in the following example.

Click the Save Draft button in the middle of the black header at the top of the page.

Click the ‘back’ arrow in the left corner of the black header to return to the list of campaigns.

Click the Draft link at the top of the page to display all of the existing campaigns being used when sending a marketing email.

The NEW campaign will appear. 

To view the new campaign, click the campaign name.

Marketing Sets

To send the marketing email from Beacon using the new campaign, go to Beacon > Marketing > Marketing Sets and select the NEW campaign for the marketing set.

Please note, it could take up to an hour before the NEW campaign is available for selection on the marketing set.
