STX Beacon: Setup Goals

Setting monthly goals for your staff helps them monitor their progress and their contribution to your company. You must first set up the steps for each goal, then you can create specific goals for each worker.

You can set up goals for things like Gross Retail Sales, Gross Service Sales, Number of Tickets, Average Retail Per Ticket, and other metrics.

Setting up a goal requires only that you add the steps necessary to compute the information you want to track. Beacon has several goals already set up to help you get started. You are free to customize them to suit your needs, or to create a few of your own.

From Home, go to Setup > Setup Workers > Setup Goals.

Create New Goals Calculations

Click the New button to create a new goals calculation. The new Goal Detail page will open.

Name the goal and confirm the Active box is checked if you wish to start tracking the goal right away.

Step 1: Defaults to the Action of Start With because you always have to ‘start with’ something.

Value: Defaults to Gross Service because it is the first item listed in the drop-down menu.

Number: Selection field will become active when a corresponding Value is chosen.

Add a step by clicking the green (+) button.

Action and Value Options

Action options consist of everything you’ll need to create a ‘mathematical’ equation for your Goals calculation.

Select the appropriate Action option for each step beginning with Step 2

Value options consist of the most common items used in Goals calculations

Retail to Service Percentage

In the above example, the goal is set up to Start With Gross Retail, Divide By Gross Service, then Multiply By Number 100

Click the Update Sample Calculation button to have sample amounts used with the steps of the goal.

The Sample Calculation shows that after dividing the Gross Retail by the Gross Service, the resulting sample is .20. To turn this into a whole number, Step 3 multiplies by 100, which turns the sample calculation into a final total of 20.00, as in 20%.

  • Add more steps by clicking the green (+) button.

  • Remove steps by clicking the red (-) button.

  • Click Save to preserve changes.

  • Click Cancel to discard changes.
